Effective Leadership

Bedford needs new and multi-purpose facilities, as well as new and improved infrastructure, to attract and retain youth, recent graduates, and new residents. Therefore, during my time as the representative of Bedford I have actively supported the Rocky Lake Development Association and all HRM initiatives that will bring new facilities and infrastructure to Bedford. Effective leaders know to make smart business decisions ALL viable options MUST be investigated. You can expect that I will continue to lead the way to the construction of new multi-purpose facilities in Bedford through collaboration and innovation.

Transparency

Also as promised, I have used my Councillor funds to promote heritage & culture, sports & recreation, and safety in Bedford for all areas and all ages. For a list of the projects and organizations I have supported, please see my Summer 2008 Newsletter for details.

Effective Communication

Effective communicators get their message out. I was particularly happy to have made Bedford issues and opportunities front page news several times, including sewage treatment, the proposed Fast Ferry service, and Lyme disease awareness. I will continue to communicate frequently and effectively!

Effective communicators both listen and talk. During the past 4 months, I have produced 3 newsletters and several articles to keep residents informed on issues and to ensure everyone knows how to contact me with their concerns and ideas. I have actively participated in all Regional Council meetings, Northwest Community Council meetings, and my assigned HRM Boards and Committees meetings, and I have kept residents advised of progress. It has also been my pleasure to participate in many community association meetings such as the Bedford Days Executive Committee, Bedford Waterfront Vision Implementation Committee, Parent Teacher Associations, police and fire officials, HRM planning staff, playground planning, and the Rocky Lake Development Association's Board of Directors.

Effective Action = Results

As outlined in my Summer 2008 Newsletter, I have kept myself and HRM staff very busy by leading action on numerous repair, beautification, safety, and maintenance projects throughout Bedford. I have also worked to provide strong leadership and significant progress on new facility and infrastructure projects for Bedford, as well as supporting progressive initiatives for all HRM.

Bedford’s Effective Councillor

As you have seen in my Summer Newsletter, a great deal of progress has been made in Bedford! I have spent the past several months solidifying the necessary relationships with community leaders and HRM executives and staff to make sure I can get things done for you!
