Tim Outhit has announced that he will run as a candidate in the HRM By-Election for Bedford, scheduled for May 3, 2008.
On Thursday, April 3, 2008 Tim held a campaign kick-off reception for friends, neighbours and colleagues. Refreshments were served, and Tim introduced and thanked his family and members of his campaign leadership team.
Tim was born and raised in HRM. He is a graduate of Dalhousie University and has completed executive and management programs at Queen's University, York University, and the University of Toronto.
Tim is president & CEO of novaknowledge, a 15 year-old think-tank and economic research organization that advocates for a progressive and knowledge-driven economy for Nova Scotia. Prior to joining novaknowledge, he was Director of Business Development at InfoInterActive Inc. (an AOL company); World Wide Channels Manager for Electronics Workbench (a National Instruments Company), and Vice President of QUICKLAW.
Tim returned to home in 2000 after 13 years in Moncton, Vancouver, and Toronto, determined to raise his daughters here and to contribute to his native city and province. He has acted on that desire, and looks forward to taking that commitment to the next level as Councillor for District 21 - Bedford.
Tim has been president of the Ridgevale Homeowners Association in Bedford since 2001. He is a member of the Bedford Volunteer Awards Committee, Sigma Chi, the Board of Governors of the All Women's Empowerment & Development Association, and a supporter of the Bedford Community Council Association and Citizens for Halifax. He is also a strong supporter of the objectives of groups such as the Greater Halifax Partnership, Halifax Chamber of Commerce, FUSION Halifax, Halifax Student Alliance, Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Association, Envision Halifax, and JCI that are striving to grow our economy and combat our demographic challenges.
Tim is married to Sandra Toze, who teaches within the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University and is working on her PhD. They have two daughters, Elizabeth and Emily, attending Eaglewood Elementary School in Bedford. Tim is well-known for his energy, enthusiasm, vision, and passionate leadership.
